This room can accommodate up to two guests who prefer separate beds. The beds are single size, and there is also a desk. Despite its small size and limited headspace above the beds, the two large roof windows give the room unique lighting and character. The larger window overlooks a residential road and the neighbouring area. Both windows are fitted with 100% black out thermally reflective blinds.
Guests share the bathroom with two other rooms on the first floor. An additional toilet is just outside the room.
The room is on the second floor, accessed via a staircase and thus only suitable for guests without mobility issues.

ποΈ The entrances, parking and luggage storage are CCTV-monitored 24/7 for our guests' safety.
π Every room is fitted with smart heating, meaning guests can control the heating in each room independently.
π₯Ά We currently have NO air conditioning.
π All rooms have 100% blackout curtains/blinds with thermal lining.
πͺ All rooms are equipped with an electric fan tower.
π§ββοΈ The property has limited soundproofing. Even though this is very common for accommodations in this area and price range, we want to be up front with our guests. The guest house is comparatively small (6 bedrooms in total), so noise levels are normally no different from what you'd expect in a family home, and most guests describe the setup as very cosy and homely.
πΊ We have decommissioned our barely used TVs in favour of very high-speed internet. This also helped us to reduce the inconsiderate use of TVs at night - a common but doubtful pleasure of travelling.
π‘π Although located within a residential area, the property borders a busy road. We're in a 20 mph speed zone, so the noise is moderate compared to other parts of the city, but one can expect some city buzz. If you're searching for a room well isolated from the street, look at our ensuite double bedroom on the ground floor. We provide earplugs in each room for the most sensitive guests.
Assuming that youβll land at Oxford Central Railway Station or Gloucester Green Coach Station, your best option is to take a short walk (5-10 min) to the city centre, which traditionally is the Carfax Tower. From there, you have the following options:
πΆ Walking
Weβre only a 20 min walk from the city centre. It is a pleasant stroll past the Christ Church over the old Folly Bridge and River Thames. Once you land at Carfax Tower, you just need to keep walking along St Aldates, which merges into Abingdon Road. So, essentially you keep walking alongside the same street until you see our property on the right, just at the entrance to Monmouth Road. If you prefer not to walk (our British weather may help you to make that decision :D), there are a few other options:
π Bus
Assuming youβre at Carfax, walk a few yards down St Aldates Street to Stop G3 on the right road and jump on X1 or X3 city line. Itβll take you straight to our B&B in less than 10 min. Get out at the Lincoln Road bus stop, and walk two blocks down Abingdon Road past Lincoln Rd to the next Monmouth Road.
π΄ Smart mobility
If you're not afraid of whizzing through the city on a scooter, Voi is an excellent option. There are several scooter pick-up locations throughout the city, and one is just in front of our B&B! https://www.voi.com/city-guides/oxford/
π Uber, taxi
Finally, you can get a cab or Uber, although youβll quickly realise that anything with four wheels is slower than anything with two. And sometimes two legs win against four wheels too! Welcome to ancient Oxford!
π Travelling by car
If you're travelling by car, we assume you've contacted us for parking space and received a free reservation. If you haven't done so, please get in touch asap so we can ensure there's a space for you. The parking is accessible from Monmouth Road. You'll see three spaces on the right opposite the 24h Window Store, with a sign "Parking reserved for 282 Abingdon Rd". Pick a spot you like, but please make sure there's enough space for other cars! Thank you.
